in karting taught me essential aspects of race craft and kart control which has
made the transition into cars a lot smoother. I ran with one of the countries
most competitive teams. This really helped accelerate my learning curve, as I
was able to develop alongside some of the countries top drivers.
I competed in
the Stars of Tomorrow British Championship in 2003. It was a great development
year and over the following winter I tested with the team at Mijas in Spain.
This prepared me
for a really competitive 2004, during which I won my first championship and
also taking the lap record in the process. A similarly successful year in 2005
lead to me maturing a lot as a driver and consequently, my family and I took
the decision to focus on my education with the intention of returning to
motorsport if I performed at A-Level.
